19 Weeks of Intentionality: Overcoming the F-word

I woke up this morning thinking about a prophetic word my friend Chas gave me a couple of Sundays ago: "it wasn't a fluke..." 😭

Sheesh...

As I thought more about what God used her to tell me, I realized many of us emotionally, in our minds and in our performance are dealing with the weight of "f-words" that have us paralyzed and unable to move forward. We've got purpose to fulfill, even before the end of 2024 and I want you to not only believe but pursue this truth!

What f-word is holding you back?

Fear of being a fluke

It’s easy to dismiss our achievements as just luck, especially when we face setbacks or doubt our abilities. However, we must remind ourselves that every accomplishment—big or small—is a testament to our hard work, resilience and God’s guidance in our lives. By embracing our unique journeys and recognizing that we are not defined by a single moment, we can cultivate confidence in our abilities and trust that we are capable of achieving greatness time and time again. Say this with me: I'm NOT a one-hit wonder!

Frustration

Frustration is something we all experience, especially when things don’t go the way we want or when we face challenges that seem too tough to handle. Instead of letting frustration get the best of us, we can see it as a chance to learn and grow. By taking a moment to figure out what’s making us frustrated, we can understand our feelings better and adjust our goals if needed. This helps us trust in God’s plan and timing for our lives. Remember, feeling frustrated doesn’t mean we’ve failed; it’s just part of the journey that can lead us to greater strength and understanding.

Flop

Experiencing a flop—when something doesn’t go as planned—can be disheartening, but it’s an important part of life. We all have moments when our best efforts don’t yield the results we hoped for, whether it’s a project at work, a personal goal, or even a creative endeavor. Instead of seeing a flop as a failure, we can view it as a valuable learning experience. Each setback teaches us something new and helps us refine our approach for next time. It’s essential to remember that even the most successful people have faced flops along their journey. What matters is how we respond: by picking ourselves up, reflecting on what went wrong, and using that knowledge to try again with renewed determination. Every flop can lead us closer to success if we allow it to guide us rather than discourage us.

Fatalism

This is one that I've dealt with for a long time and I know how crushing it can be. Fatalism is when we think everything is already decided and we can't change anything. It's like saying, "Why bother? It's all going to happen the same way no matter what I do." For example, you've got a small YouTube audience that doesn't get many views/likes; so why bother trying to grow it? Everything's gonna turn out the way it's always been; it's a waste of time. Here's the thing: you have a choice between life and death, so choose life! (Joshua 24:15) By focusing on what we can do and trusting God with the rest, we can overcome fatalism. Each day is a new chance to choose faith over fear and to take action instead of giving up.

Fatigue

Weakness. Lack of strength. Feeling hesitant. It can make us feel inadequate and hesitant to take on challenges. For instance, when we face difficulties in our lives, we might think, "I can't do this; I'm not strong enough," leading us to give up before we even start. Remember that our weakness can be a place where God's strength shines through. In 2 Corinthians 12:9, Paul writes, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” It's okay to feel weak because God’s power is at work in us, even when we don’t feel capable. This is where we need to prioritize rest; inviting God into our struggles, then we can find the strength to move forward and tackle life’s challenges with renewed hope and confidence.

We deserve to celebrate our successes—big and small—without questioning their validity; reminding ourselves that we are worthy of love, grace and the abundant life God has promised us.

Be sure to keep me posted on your progress...

Hugs & Love,

Sheryl
